Configuring Dialup Internet Access with Windows 98/ME

 

Step 1
 
Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. This will cause a window similar to the one shown below to appear.

Double-click the "Dial-Up Networking" icon. A window similar to the one shown below will appear.

Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon. A window similar to the one shown below will appear. 
Type "APSCC" in the name textbox. 
Make sure that your modem is selected in the device list. If it is not, please click here and read the note. 
Click the "Next" button. 

 

   
Step 4
 
In the "Telephone Number" textbox, type the access number for your local area. Flagstaff is 214-1565. For other locations, click here. 
Click the "Next" button. 

 

   
Step 5
 
Click the "Finish" button. 

 

   
Step 6
 
In the dial-up networking window (which should still be open from step 2), right-click on "APSCC" and select "Properties"

Click on the "Scripting" tab. 
Click the "Browse" button.

Navigate to the "apscc.scp" file that you downloaded before you started these instructions. If you did not download apscc.scp, cancel and click here. 
Click on apscc.scp in the file list and click the "open" button. 

 

  
Step 9
 
Click the "General" tab and make sure that the "Use area code and dialing properties" is UNCHECKED. 
Click the "OK" button. 

 

  
Step 10
 
You are now ready to connect. Double-click the "APSCC" icon and enter your username and password. 
This is the same username and password that you use for email. 
Click the connect button.
